Beth tenHove is a contemporary landscape painter, creating large abstract paintings using fluid acrylics. Her work is a celebration of coastal landscapes and life on the shores of Lake Ontario. Beth's paintings are highly textured and layers of transparent colour are used to explore the reflection of light and hidden layers within the natural environment. A central theme of her work is the visual symmetry of land, water and sky as they converge upon a common horizon.
Beth's work is deeply connected to her spiritual practices which include transcendental meditation (TM) and yoga. She currently lives in Kingston, Ontario, where she spends her days painting and giving herself permission to live a happy, gentle life.
Beth's creative focus has been shifting in the last two years and she recently launched a new collection of work called "Child's Play". A playful departure from her landscapes although still relying on complex layering to convey depth and feeling. Her new work explores the process of transition and connection and the invisible thresholds we find at the edge of change.
